In this ‘Level 2 Immersion’ we intend to build on and fine-tune skills learned in the level 1 immersion, as well as expanding the repertoire of poses you will feel able to adjust.
Time will be allocated to practicing a small number of the more challenging and complex adjustments from primary series, to help you increase your confidence and refine your technique as you practice on different body-types.
We will cover adjustment options for many of the poses in the Ashtanga Intermediate Series, as well as reinforcing key principles which can be applied across many poses, allowing you to gain a greater understanding of the links between different poses and the key directions of movement and actions which make them effective.
You will practice using your skills of observation whilst learning how to assess and respond to a student with greater subtlety, allowing for physical and verbal adjustments which are more tailored to the individual in front of you, moving away from a one-size-fits-all approach to adjustment.
Our intention for the course is to impart skills that will help support you to become a better teacher, allowing you to more effectively share the gift of Ashtanga Yoga with others. This course will take place at our home studio and is limited to 12 students, allowing us to give plenty of input and feedback as you practice adjusting.
This workshop is suitable for Ashtanga yoga practitioners who have already completed the Ashtanga Immersion Level 1 with Joey and already have a reasonable proficiency in the first half of the Intermediate Series.
As we have a lot of material to cover over the two weekends, our schedule will be quite intensive, each day will start at 9am and finish at 6pm. We recommend you come prepared with lunch/snacks as our location is a bit rural and therefore the nearest shops aren’t so close by.
