Join Joey for a weekend of Ashtanga yoga in Hertford.
The full weekend ticket includes either the 8am or 10.15am Saturday morning and Sunday morning Mysore practice, therefore when booking the full weekend ticket please be sure to choose from either the 8am or 10.15am Mysore practice time. Only the Friday evening and the Saturday and Sunday afternoon sessions can be booked as separate workshops, not the morning Mysore sessions.
The Ashtanga counted method encourages students to practice in a steady rhythmic flow. Emphasis is placed on the number accorded to each breath movement, this helps to sharpen the concentration. Use this class to revise the structure of the sequence and to arrive for the weekend experience.
Practice at your own rhythm and in your own way in a silent group environment. Receive adjustment and guidance on how to sustain a nurturing practice.
This class will focus on standing poses to clarify basic actions and directions of extension that improve alignment in asana. The body will be systematically divided part by part for the purpose of learning and creating space.
Having digested Saturdays technique class discover what sticks and what you have discarded in the following day’s practice.
After an intensive weekend of dynamic yoga practice, the final class will allow time for stillness and resorption. Wilfully abandon the techniques used in dynamic practice and rest in supported poses to create gestures of surrender and openness in the body that facilitate relaxation. Once an atmosphere of stillness and introversion has been created, guided pranayama practice will lead you towards a profoundly peaceful state.
