Overview

Now open for booking. Come and join us for a weekend of yoga in the quiet beauty of the Peak District. The Peak Centre is in Edale, a charming village in picturesque countryside, and the place where the Pennine Way begins. Step out of the door of the centre and there are many walks to do nearby. The centre has lots of green space within its grounds, a cute cabin in the woods (which we might use for meditation) and a fire pit.

The centre itself is simple and functional with bunk rooms, an open fire and plenty of cosy hang out areas. The yoga room is very spacious and provides glimpses of the surrounding fields.

On Saturday daytime, we hope to go for a walk to appreciate the magnificent views of the hills before the afternoon class, this will take around 2-3 hours. There will be ample time to get to know your fellow practitioners, whilst walking, over delicious food or relaxing at the centre over the course of the weekend.

Packing up at 11am – we will all need to have left by 12pm.

Please note some elements of the schedule may change but the arrival and departure times will not, so go ahead and book your travel.

 

Suitability

As there is no beginners class on this retreat, all students must be confident practicing in a mysore-style class, able to practice independently for around half primary series. (We don’t expect poses to be perfect, modification is fine, but we expect you to know the order of the poses and be reasonably confident of the transitions between poses. This is to allow us to spend plenty of time with each student).

 

Accommodation Options

All rooms are very simple but bright and airy with bunk beds and shelves for clothes. Bathrooms are communal.

Food

The food will be provided by our lovely chef Emily Evans, who will try to source organic, seasonal, local ingredients. The food will be wholesome and delicious vegan food. There will be dairy options available too for butter, milk and yoghurt. We’ll enjoy an evening meal on Friday, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, (breakfast will be filling, lunch will be light) and breakfast on Sunday morning before we head off. There will always be options so if you prefer to eat light, you can, if you want to be filled up with something hearty, there will be plenty. There will be tea and coffee available all the time, plus fruit and biscuits for snacks.

 

Digital Detox

During the retreat we ask you not to use any digital technology such as phones/tablets/laptops etc.; either leave your devices at home or hand them over to us for safe keeping at the start of the retreat.

Getting There

The Peak Centre is only a five-minute walk away from Edale train station so train travel is the ideal way to get here. If you choose to drive, there are a reasonable number of parking spaces within the gates of the centre. If you’re driving but not using a satnav, click here for information on travelling by car.

What to bring

All bedding is provided by the centre. Please bring: a towel, toiletries, your own mat, journal and a pen, outdoor clothing and shoes suitable for going for a walk on Saturday.
