Come and spend a day entering into the natural quietness that Winter lends itself to. We’ll intersperse meditation throughout the day, to allow for this shift towards a soft open awareness. We’ll begin the day with guided sitting meditation followed by mysore-style self-practice.
A light lunch of homemade soup will be provided. We’ll return to our cushions after lunch for more sitting meditation, followed by reflection and journalling (more info on theme to follow). A short restorative practice will follow, making use of simple supported poses, to allow the body to relax, along with inversions, to encourage the attention to turn inwards. I feel strongly that the ability to develop an attitude of wamth and appreciation towards oneself is at the heart of spiritual practice. To this end, we’ll close the day with guided metta bhavana (cultivation of loving kindness) meditation.
Please note this workshop is suitable for those who have memorised the first half of the primary series and are able to practice this independently, (I don’t expect all poses to be perfect, but you must have a good grasp of the order of poses and transitions between them).
Bring with you a journal and a pen, all equipment is provided but you’re welcome to bring your own mat.
This workshop will take place at our home studio:
9 Stoney Springs Mill, Burnley Road, Brearley, HX2 6DH. There will be space to park either directly outside the house or on the slope when you turn off from the main road.
